Cams on a V6?

I agree with Silver. I think a realistic goal for cams and reworked heads is 240 at the wheels. The problem is that noone is doing it and you are marching down some really unbeaten paths.
The X or Vortech is a highway in comparison. A little more spendy...but proven results. 290 is realistic and 300 is easily attainable.
I would love to see someone go down this road and work out the buys...but it is just too risky IMO. I am a bit surprised that there are not more options as there are SO many 4.0's in Explorers and that crew can spend stupid amounts of money on their trucks.

Actually there are people on here putting down 300 with the X and supporting mods. regardless if its 270, cams wont even make that much. the average automatic will make around 187rwhp. do the math, getting to 270 just from cams is very unlikely. 4v's dont even make 80+rwhp with cams
On another tangent, the X will be getting an intercooler option soon, which will bump up the HP over the non-intercooled version.

It's ironic that you picked 270rwhp, cuz that's what ranebowcyxx got with his N/A 4.0L/auto with heads & cams (and supporting mods). He's since gone with the STS turbo, but he did dyno his NA set-up before going back to FI.

The X-Charger Extreme will use an air-to-water heat exchanger, and it is NOT dead. It will fit the stock hood, and is in the middle of passing its CARB certification. Testing with a VERY reputable tuner will be done in less than 2 weeks. No idea on cost, but stay tuned folks!

Crossing fingers that once released...the standard versions will drop 10-15%.
Call me cheap, but these units are overpriced.
If they could get these units down to $2500, they would move 5x as many.
