Ford Racing Cold Air Intake install
#11
now save up about $60 and get yourself a custom tune from a dedicated tuning shop. u think that Procal tune was something? your in for more "wow".
also... cant blame FRPP staff for acting that way but it is unprofessional nonetheless. from now on, use the forums for all your questions... nooby or non-nooby.

On the GT's, the FRPP CAI & tune is good for roughly 15-18 RWHP. A comparable CAI & tune from Brenspeed or Bama will provide 20-25 or more RWHP. I'm not sure how those numbers equate to the V6.

its been noted that those custom tunes on the 4.0 will push approx 15-20hp. not bad at all.

Has anyone installed one of these themselves?
The dealer wants to charge me $250 for an install and even the guy at the parts counter is telling me to self install.
Couple questions.
Does each mustang have a unique PCM #? Apparently this is needed and I need to take apart a couple items in the engine to get to it.
And, really stupid novice question, but which cable is the batter ground cable? Black one right? This needs disconnecting to get to the PCM #.
I have read that disconnecting the battery can reset your engine's computer and mess up some of the programming. Any truth to that?
Thanks in advance for any advice

yOU NEED THE STRATGY CODE THATS ON A STICKER ON THE OUTSIDE OF IT.
No need to disassemble anything to get to the #.
Disconnecting the battery looses the adaptive learning and it must be relearned.
Read the owners manual about batery replacement
and adaptive learning relearning procedures.

As much as you feel from the FRPP package, other CAI & tune combos (as suggested in post #2) would have yielded higher RWHP gains.
As far as mileage, is that why you spent the money for the FRPP package? To gain 1-2 MPG? If you're worried about gas mileage, you could have picked up a 10-speed bike for that money and still had change left over. We didn't buy these cars for their economy. We all bought them because they look good, can go fast and they give us wood.

Maybe you didnt buy this car for economy but i did and the 2011 is supposed to get around 29mpg the camaro gets that and has 300 hp, now i would not buy a camaro because i have all fords and always have. I have an 80 mile a day commute so one or two mpgs adds up. If I want something to really get up and go i jump in the 37 less weight 85 gt motor with edelbrock aluminum heads and 4.10 gears gets around 19 with the tremec 5 speed. I did buy the mustang for its looks and there was no way i was driving a focus even if it gets twice the mileage well maybe with the roush 5.0 conversion but only if its dark outside lol.
