Default Squeaks

I have a new 2009 Mustang that is about 1 month old with 2000 miles on it.

I have noticed that when the engine is completely cold - on startup, I am hearing a squeeking noise for the first couple of minutes... Like a belt squeeking.

I'm bringing it into the shop this Friday - probably nothing serious. But as it is a new car, it should not be doing it.

Any ideas?

Hopefully the shop will be able to hear it. But, when you get to the shop the noise will be gone. Maybe have the shop check the belt tension, or I spose you could leave it at the shop and have them fire it up cold. I had a squeak for a month or so, it finally went away. With a Mustang though, you will always hear a squeak or rattle or something. Most of my noises have been in the interior. For now all is quiet, but I'm sure another will crop up.

Wow that's a tough one indeed. The car probably really needs to sit overnight to get cool.
Even then, finding the squeak quickly will be a challenge.

They'll probably try a new belt first unless they have some history with similar problems being a specific part. otherwise, it could be anything on the belt train. Or even something; the squaking might not be caused or coming from the belt or pulleys.

I had a similar problem once, and one dealer tried 3 times to fix/find it. Turns out it was the alternator, and a different dealership fixed it the first time. (under warranty of course).

Well, I'm taking it in tomorrow. We'll see. I may have to leave it overnight 1x - you are correct.

i had the same problem when i got my o7; like at the third month i experienced a squeaky noise just like you. i tried to take it to the dealer where i bought it 20 miles away and by the time i got there the noise was gone. I left my car over overnight for them to fire it up cold but when i went to pick it up they said there was no noise. Anyway i dont get the noise anymore, hopefully it would go away for you too.

Yea -they couldn't find anything. I made the time to pop the hood after I started it Fri Morning - to try to isolate where the squeak might be coming from. Of course - it never did it at all Fri... They couldn't find anything, and they contacted Ford to see what other similar reports have been made on the Mustang - to see if they could figure it out. No luck.
