I never hung my second GT takeoff. I think the sixes sound pretty nice with one GT muffler and you won't see any gains in power. Save your time/money/wife aggro for a C&L and tune from Doug at Bamachips.

I have a single GT take-off muffler on the wife's 4.0L vert. Back when I had my 4.0L coupe, I installed a Ford X-pipe, mid-pipe, and dual GT take-off mufflers. I compared the two cars side by side by having the cars revved up in the driveway, and the duals were not that much different sounding than the single. Duals may look better, but the performance aspect isn't there. After comparing the two cars, I decided to leave the vert with a single muffler - it has a unique sound that I like.

Thanks for all this helpful feedback. It's always good to get reports based on first-hand experience. Sounds like the single vs. dual GT muffler issue is really a taste rather than a performance issue. I'm pretty happy with the single GT sound and will stick with that.

I'll save my spousal chips for the CAI and retune. I'm pretty happy with my sixer except for the truly awful gear change ratios in the auto tranny. I hope Bama chips will be able to help me with that.

Thanks! Interesting to get a direct side-by-side comparison.

does anyone have a sound clip of the stock v6 exhaust and 1 GT take-off? I want a little more sound out of my mustang but the wife hates them really loud. My brother has a 02 GT with flowmaster 40s (dual) on it...sounds sweet but wifey hates it (she just doesn't get it haha).
anyhow I'm thinking i wanna go with 1 GT muffler but would like to hear it.

also i have a 2010 will a 05-09 takeoff work? i havent checked the hanger locations yet.

i found a set of gt takeoffs of $50 locally.

Thanks

Yes, take-offs from a 05-09 will fit your 2010. You will notice the improvement, and your wife should be happy as well.

I'm jealous of your setup, TX Ztang!
do some research on the CAI, there's alot of discussion whether they actually do anything. The tune, yes, the CAI ?
