Rear End whine, new parts - tech said it's ok?

You should print this thread out and take it into them. Let them read it.

TX_Zstang laid down some GREAT insight to your problem.

The tech is just being lazy. Anymore time spent working on your car = money lost...hence the BS answer you were given.

That shop has not a clue.
4.10 gears dont 'rub' the 4.0 housing.
Did he swap the axle retaining cross
pin for the correct pin for 4.10s?
4.10s and 4.56s use a different
axle retaining cross pin.

In all honesty take it back, there should be no whine in the rear end, I did the same exact mod and they told me something similar, that the gears will settle in and the whine will go away, more than likely the lashing gap is to big, if your gears are motive, the lashing should be between .008 - .010 and that is an email response I got from motive. What happened to me, I got my gears put in, 9 months later, the shims fell out on the passenger side and I had to get that repaired. So don't take no for answer.
The OEM backlash is about 0.016.
Motive likes 0.008 - 0.010 backlash.
If you dont do anything soon,
the whine will be there no matter
what you do.
