Default 4.0 v6 rear axle question.

Is there a locker of some sort for the rear axle of the 05-09 4.0 mustang?

You can install a Ford Tlok, but for the cost of the parts and installation you are better off just getting a take off 8.8 and swapping the rear end. Most of the other manufacturers (Auburn for example) have a 7.5" differential kit as well.

Go to NTO and get the 8.8 rear axle with 3.73s. It has posi already. And is a total bolt on so it's easy to install. And if you don't want to install it it won't be expensive for a mechanic to bolt it on.

I run a Detroit TrueTrac in my 7.5 and love it. But an 8.8 upgrade would be cheaper and stronger but they weren't readily available when I did mine so I stuck with the 7.5 since I don't drag race this car. Just open track and autocross and spirited street driving.

I agree with NTO for purchase of the 8.8 rear and also going with the 3.73's. I had a good purchase experience when I bought my true duals from NTO they have great customer service, and great prices! If you were to purchase just the t-lok and 3.73 gears it will be aprox $400 and the install between $ 250-300 to install, might as well get the heavy duty 8.8 for around $850 plus cheaper install price!

Definitely cheaper if you install it yourself!
