Dyno #'s between stock and a good CAI & custom tune have been in the 20+ RWHP range. Typical stock #'s are about 265 RWHP with CAI & tune #'s being about 285-290 RWHP. But each car is different stock and more so tuned. The biggest gain is from the stock 87 octane tune to custom 87 octane tune. From 87 custom on up, the increases are a good bit less substantial but still decent.

So you're saying an 87 custom tune is the best to get?

Define "best". And no, I didn't say 87 is the best. If you want decent performance gian and don't want to pay for higher octane, then an 87 custom tune CAN be best... for you.

What's "best" is to get your 3 tunes for whatever octanes are available, start out with a full tank of the higher octane and experiment. You can change tunes in a matter of minutes by the side of the road. Not everyone likes the characteristics of the higher octane tunes for a DD. I prefer to run my 89 tune 99.9% of the time. My 93 tune kicks azz in the upper RPM ranges but is a bit doggy in the lower range. My 89 is a bit more even across the entire power band.

Those are 4.6 numbers, he's got a 4.0, but you still get an idea

Mark, you should listen to NUKE on this he has good information from what I have seen in all his posts. I have 87 street, 89 performance, and 93 race. all three are good in their own ways. with gas prices going up a 87 tune is a good thing to have. And like NUKE said what is "BEST" (Nuke hates this word) only you can decide.

just for a reference spot, I am on bama tunes street 87 with a C & L, custom exhaust, and nothing else and my numbers were 200rwhp and 233tq.

I like my c&l and when I end up swapping in a new motor (will be a while), I will buy the variant of the c&l for that motor. However, from what I have seen, JLT and C&L are very comparable in numbers

The difference in RWHP and RWTQ between any of the top CAI manufacturers (JLT, C&L, Airaid, FRPP) are going to be minimal and you won't feel a real difference. The JLT intake and tunes to match will work out perfectly for you!

There will not be any difference in power between the C&L and the JLT. The only thing you have to worry about is which you think looks cooler.

Here's the scientific way to decide; flip a coin. Because it just doesn't matter.
