Would I be satisfied with a 4.0?
Hello,
I just sold my 97 Cobra (stock except for 3.73 gear) and I am looking to upgrade to a 06-12 at some point. I am considering all options (06-10 4.6GT and 4.0 Pony Package) as well as the 2011 + 5.0 and 3.7.
I think my budget is going to keep me in a 06 thru 10 model; the GT's cost in the upper teens with low miles - even the 2011 and 2012 3.7 V^'s are in the low 20's - while the same year 4.0 Pony Package is in the lower teens with low miles.
I sold my Cobra b/c I want the newer look (from 05 thru 2012) and the comforts that come with them. However, with my Cobra I am used to being able to hit the gas and GO. However my Cobra was a stick and part of the deal with my wife is that I buy an automatic so she will be able to drive it.
So, with 2011 5.0's in the mid to upper 20's and the 2011 3.7's in the low 20's, my most affordable options are the pre-09 GT's or 4.0 Pony Package. I love the looks of both, but if I buy a 4.0 with an auto, will I be disappointed - even with a CAI and a tuner? I do not race; I just like to cruise (this time in comfort) and look back at my car when I walk away to admire it :-)
Thanks for any advice...

The 05-09 V6 models are a bit slower than the Cobra you sold. I googled and got a couple numbers that you can compare: rated 0-60 5.9 for your Cobra, and I saw a 6.8-7.3 0-60 for the V6. I would personally go for the gt
I enjoy my 4.0 with an agressive tune...it's got a lot of get-up and go.
FEELS faster than a GT with stock tune at lower rpms.
My tune actually feels more aggressive than a procharged 4.0 (although it was poorly built and had a terrible tune..)
If I were you, I'd stick with a 4.6...you may be disappointed with the drop of hps.

Thanks for the replies... I felt like I knew the answer (4.6) but the price difference is what had me seeking advice. My Cobra was a "quick" car, but I would not describe it as a "truly fast" car, even with the 3.73 rear.
I'll spend a few extra thousand bucks wisely and not look back.
