Just like these guys said, an off road mid-pipe will give you a much louder, throatier sound. Which dual exhaust setup do you have now? Probably the best sounding one for the 4.0 v6 I've heard was this Pypes-Dual exhaust kit.
Hope this helps you out some!

Louder isn't necessarily better. I've heard a lot of loud V6's that sound like crap so be careful. Hopefully, you don't equate louder with sounding like a V8 which you won't get out of a V6, no matter WHAT you put on it.

Keep your cats on, like kput said, nine times out of ten removing them will give you a raspy tinny sound that makes people think half your exhaust is coming apart.
What kind of midpipe do you have currently?

I know you say you don't want straight pipes,
but I have straight pipes, with SLP Shotgun Resonators welded into it, and my car sounds amazing.
It's not raspy or ricey at all. And it definitely doesn't sound like a v6.
It's got a nice idle to it, and definitely sounds amazing at startup. And when you get on it, it'll definitely turn heads.
As long as you stick with the OEM 2.5" pipe diameter, it's restrictive enough to keep it from being obnoxious.
Nice part is, is that's it's cheap too.
If you have duals already, you can take it to an exhaust shop and have them bend pipes that go from where the muffler connects now, and out the back bumper...Super easy and cheap.
