Tapping into Reverse wiring

Tapping into Reverse wiring
Just bought a rear view camera to support my Pioneer head unit. I need to tap into the wire running to the reverse lights. Anyone able to pinpoint specifically which wire I can tap into?

according to chiltons, left reverse lamp is dark green/orange or white/yellow. right reverse lamp is white/yellow. these wires would be found in the trunk behind the panel in the harness that leads to each tail light. if your unfamiliar with wire color codes, first color is wire case cover and second is stripe color. (DKGR/OR is dark green wire with orange stripe) good luck

Well I spliced into the White/Yellow wire running down the passenger side (actually two of them and I tried both) but the camera did not come on when I shifted the car into reverse (manual). The instructions for my head unit say the following...
"Of the two lead wires connected to the back lamp, connect the one in which the voltage changes when the gear shift is in the REVERSE (R) position. This connection enables the unit to sense whether the car is moving forwards or backwards"
Am I tapping into the correct wires?
