I can get a practically NEW 2-piece from a 2014 GT, but I mainly just want the
front piece with the carrier bearing. What would I need to do, to get it to work with
my '08 V6 Auto?
Yeah, almost brand new... $50.00! Yes, you read that right, $50 bucks!
Edit: I do not have a GT, but this is the style shaft I currently have in my '08 V6 Auto.

I am seeing a lot of 4.0 Automatic one-piece shafts on eBay. They say it is for fitting the trans to the diff,
and not the rear piece of a two piece. I assume there was an option to get a one piece shaft? Or, did 05-07s
come with a one piece?
Those are the stock driveshafts in your picture and technically are a two-piece. The slip joint in the center connects the two pieces. Just a little different set up from the GT style with a center carrier bearing.
And they weigh a LOT more than an aluminum one piece.
So, the GT style has the carrier bearing? Well, I have a 2-piece with the carrier bearing,
and I do not have a GT. Mine is an '08 4.0 V6, which is why I mentioned the 05-07 having
the other style. I figured that was a slip joint, but it looks as one piece, they're kind of
advertised that way. They say "rear drive shaft" then say it "goes from the trans to the
differential, and is not the rear section of a 2-piece."
My first post, is the type I currently have. All I want to use is the front section with the
carrier bearing, if that would work on my '08 V6 Auto. I would guess now that people are
just assuming NO because I do not have a GT, yet I have the carrier bearing style shaft.
The one I am looking at is $50.00, with < 5000 miles on it, you can see how nice it looks.
It is from a '14 Automatic. I would guess the measurements are not the same if I can't
use it.
