Default 07 MAP sensor leaking

Had issue with starting the other day. It started but was running rough with strong smell of gas from exhaust. No codes. Went to remove the map sensor to check fuel pressure and when removing the vacuum hose gas spilled out of it. I don’t think this is normal is it ?

There is no MAP sensor on the 4.0L. What area is the sensor you're pulling off located, Fuel rail? that would be the Fuel rail pressure sensor and no, there should not be any fuel coming out if you just pull the vacuum line. If that is the sensor, don't buy junk, buy either Motrocraft or Bosch.

Yes that’s the one. When this goes bad will it want to try to dump more fuel to the engine , washing out the cylinders?

It's possible. When mine stated to go bad it would occasionally throw an OBDII code P0193 code. An alternate code it could throw is P0192.

Regardless if the vacuum line has fuel in, it that means the pressure chamber inside the sensor has sprung a leak and needs to be replaced anyway. I picked up the Bosch one from Amazon PN Bosch 0261230093

Don't try to save $10 by getting the cheaper knockoffs. They will fail or be bad out of the box. The Bosch one is about 1/3 the cost of the motorcraft and is the same or better in build quality.

Ok more drama. Plugs were a pain to remove took my time to not strip the heads. When removing a plug wire the electrode stayed in the plug boot. The fuel rail pressure sensor came off in two pieces. There’s a qt of gas in my oil and I have about 1/8” of gas in the bottom of my intake manifold.

Saw your other thread about the cheap fuel rail sensor and how it broke on you. https://mustangforums.com/forum/v6-s...ver-never.html

For the broken plugs in the head, not very common for the S197 V6. GT's had an issue until about mid 2008 (build of late 07). Not sure if this tool will work for broken V6 plugs or not. :

Yea thanks I got the plugs out took my time 2 days kept spraying them with penetrating oil and 1/4 turn till they were free. The one with the broken electrode must have been broken for a while. Never noticed a problem no codes. Tomorrow I’m going to get the standing gas out of intake manifold and change oil. Squirted some oil in the cylinders and turned them over by hand to lube the rings. Another extra today was to get better axis to the rear passenger plug I removed the battery and battery box, and the nut plate for two of the bolts slipped down between the inner and outer fender well. Now I need to remove the tire and cover over the tire to get it out. If this was my everyday driver I’d be stressed but one day at a time.
