Unhappy really hoping only a head gasket replacement

my 06 , 4.0 v6 over heated because the thermostat needed changed , i added coolant A LOT because it would get pretty worm and i was unable toget the bolts out to replace the thermostat ,i found out , after my car died a couple miles down the highway, that the whole housing was meant to be replaced. which i did . after i pulled it home ... it cranks over, doesnt start . coolant in oil on both sides ( more on one side than the other ) ivoolant and it running again e taken very good care of my car and other than replacing the starter ive not had any issues and i absolutely love it can anyone tell me what the chances are of it being change the head gaskets ,oil , & coolant for it to run again ????? its all ive got and i desperately need it!!! thanks for any advise

Since you overheated the engine, you'll also need to have the heads skimmed 'cause now they'll be slightly warped.
