Default Turn off egr??

I just bought an SCT Excalibrator 2 to recalibrate the speedo for the new gears I put in the car last weekend and noticed an option to turn off the EGR. How would this help on a basically stock car(if it would help at all)? What are any possible problems I'd run into if I did this? Thanks for any advise!!

I don't know much about the EGR, I think it has to do with air filtering. Anyways my Diablo tuner has the same feature on it. However in the instruction manual that came with my Diablo tuner, it says not to turn the EGR off unless you remove it from your car.

Yeah, that's probably right. I doubt turning it off in the tuner will do any good since the smog pump will still be running regardless. Thanks alot!!

Leave the EGR alone, it reduces combustion temps at part throttle to reduce NOX, a side benefit of lower combustion temps is preventing pre-ignition from leaving smoking holes in your pistons.

yeah its for emissions but if you don't have cats or any thing else any way you don't need it.

Removing it actualy hurts your performance unless you get it dynotuned afterwards.
