Default Pinging

I just programmed my car (04 GT) with the preset 93 octane tune in a SCT Excalibrator 2. I've been running 93 octane for about a month now, in anticipation of running the tune, but the car is still pinging at WOT in lower RPM's (below 2200). I tried pulling some timing (-6 degrees from 0-2000 and -3 degrees from 2000-4000), but it didn't help. Is there any way that there could be an air fuel problem? Do I need to retard the timing even more? I bought the tuner hoping I could run advanced timing, but apparently my car just doesn't want to let me do it. Any quick responses would be greatly appreciated because I really want to run the car this weekend, but I don't want to run it if I can't get this problem resolved. Thanks a lot in advance.

1st start off with stock timing. Then just slowly go up still its starts pinging then go down one degree and it shouldnt ping. Also you might want to check into a low temp thermostat. Lower temp thermostat will help keep the A/F charge cool therefore no pinging.

You can't really start from stock and go up till it pings using this programmer, it puts in a pre-programmed tune and then you have to ajust that tune from there and I'm not sure what the timing in the tune is set at. It's not retarded from factory timing, it's retarded from the 93 octane tune's timing. It happens when the engine is cold as well, which would rule out a hot intake charge. I think the car might be leaning out under WOT, but I'm not totally sure. I wish the sct would tell me total degrees of timing!!! Any other ideas

Go back to stock and 87 gas.Run it for a few days and see if the pinging goes away.A stock engine that pings has something wrong with it.It'll be easier to find out what that is with the engine running a stock tune. You might even take it in under warranty with a stock tune.
Running the 93 octane could have caused deposits to be deposited in the combustion chamber effectively raising the compression ratio, causing the pinging. Not likely for running 93 for a short time but it is possible.
Try cleaning the MAF element with electrical contact cleaner.A dirty meter can cause a lean condition and therefore pinging.

i have a rattling sound that might be pinging, dunno. i broke off some plastic peice in the heater vent, and i think the rattle i hear is it, cause i get it around 2,500k rpm and it goes away at 4,000k, and like fades away, it comes very weak at 2500, and is prolly its loudest around 3-3500, as it goes away. it started happening after i broke off the plastic peice so i have just assumed thats what i hear. should i be concerned? its an inconsistent rattle too. i'd say the sound comes from the center console/radio area.
