Default Reduce Gear Whine?

I installed a steeda Tri-Ax shifter after going to the track and not being able to shift gears. I still have the same problem of the shifter being notchy and sometimes not going in.

But anyways, when I downshift or im at a high rpm, I hear a lot of whine. Is there a way to reduce this so it isnt as loud?

Thanks

Did you put a gasket between the shifter base and the trans? Also try Royal Purple syncromesh

did you make sure to take the plastic bushing off the old shifter and putting it on the ball joint part of the tri-ax? I have installed 3 tri-axs now, The gear whine will happen, infact I believe it is mentioned in the install sheet, that tranny noise will be more noticed, due to less noise insulators....

Also, if you're just driving and downshifting for a stop light or what not, you can coast, you will get less whine the lower the rpms that you try to get into gear at...

I would make one out of that gasket maker kit they sell at the auto parts store. It's green rolled up and looks like really thick paper. (this is what i did). I just traced around the base and cut out the middle works fine. Or there used to be a sponsor that sells them shifter gasket .com or something

The problem going into reverse? Try bringing the shifter left, into the spot between 1-2 (that point when ou move the spring over) then move over to the right and slide into R, should work like a charm
