Im thinking of buying a new differential and those 4.10 gears I always wanted. I have developed a whine in my differential that will need to be addressed soon. The places I have been looking at offer two types of diffs. a 31 splines and 28 splines. What does a stock rear end have?

are the splines how big the gears are or how many teeth they have? I have 4.10's but I don't know what brand or anything because the previous owners did all the work on this car so far.

 

The spline count is the amount of (teeth) splines the carrier and axle ends have.

 

want a good lsd? get eaton or torsen. dont get the cheapo frpp t-lok like i did. im very dissapointed.
