Default to lower or not to lower

I was told by a mechanic not to lower my car cause it can damage/hurt the front suspension.

Is this correct?

If you purchase just springs....yes it will be hard on your shocks/struts. But if you get new shocks/struts and springs....there is nothing wrong with lowering your car. Mechanics can be really smart...or completely dumb.

Would it be wise to lower my stang since winter sucks in NJ?

I lowered mine and im in PA....not too far from NJ

No matter what, a mustang won't be good in the snow.

Yea exactly, lowering the car has nothing to do with the rear wheel drive stangs have which is why they are so horrific in the snow, and even somethings in the rain.

IF you lower your car more than 1 inch, you will need to correct the front steering geometry. You can install:

C&C plates

or

Bump steer kit

or

Off-set rack bushings

or

any and all combinations of the above. I have off-sets. I'm installing new shocks/struts, front end links, and control arms tomorrow. I'll know soon if the off-sets are enough for my drop or not. If not, I'll add one of the other pieces.
