If you want to get a converter and have good results, you will need to spend in the area of about $700-900. It's just how it is. That said a good converter can knock an easy 1/2 second off your 1/4 time (givin that you can get traction). Personally, with the way these newer lock-up stlye converters work, I would not waist my time or money on anything less than 3500 rpm. My car has a 4000. The nice thing is that they lock up, just like a manual during regular cruising, so the rpm and even the gas milage is the same as stock, but when you need it the converter is there for you.

Then what brand would you get? And how much of a stall for a DD.

And let me see if I am getting this right...say i would get a 3500...when you floor it from a stop it will automatically start at 3500 rpm's? So if that would be the case would it be pointless to have without better tires? Because i would probably just spin.
