tranny or clutch??

Default tranny or clutch??

problems with the gt. when i shift into third even if the car is siting still it grinds. i have to shift very very slowly or it will grind. every other gear is fine. doesnt slip at all in any gear. i am taking it back to the dealer at 2:00. i think they are going to try to screw me. i just need some advice. its an 04 btw.

If it is only third, it sounds like a synchro problem. Could be a bent shift fork, but doubt it has any relation to the clutch at all if it only happens in third.

I just asked the ASE Ford Master tech that works for me. He work in dealerships for years. He says you have a 50/50 shot. It really depends on the mechanic. If he is cool and just wants to get paid for the book time he will do it. If the mechanic is a "mama's boy" he will run to the service manager and say it is not covered. Good luck!
