Default squeaking

I have a 98 mustang gt and have the original shocks and struts. While driving I hear squeaking. Also if I am not moving but turn the steering wheel it squeaks. What could this be?

same thing happened to my car around 10,000 miles. it was a busching in the front steering assembly. the dealer put some lub in there and it was fine, every couple of months i put some wheel bearing grease on it.

this is why at every oil change technically you should grease and lube every joint you can

well WD40 is more or less to help find the problem spot. You should use grease. All I'm saying, is when you have your car up for an oil change, find any grease fittings in the front suspension and give them some shots of grease. Does no harm at all

It could be any number of parts squeaking. My car has so many odd squeaks and clunks I just ignore them. As long as the car feels solid which mine does, I don't let squeaks get me down

Monkeydude.

Do you actually drive your car or just work on it J/K

Anyway,

My car was making a squeaking noise. Sounded like old bed springs. I replaced the ball-joints because the boots were shot.

Turned out to be the bushings on the A-arms. But the ball joints would have caused problems sooner or later...

Now I just started getting a "clunk" from the front end when reversing or breaking hard.

I don't know WTF that is yet.

I may replace the shocks and see if I can discover the worn part in doing that.

The front suspension is an area Ford could use some improvement.

Might be a good time to replace/check out all the bushings in the front/rear of the car and replace em with polyurethane bushings if that's what is wrong that is. lol

WD-40 is a penetrating fluid, not a lubricant.

Also, why are you turning your wheel while you are parked? That's masive stress on ball joints and anything to do with your steering. Don't crank the wheel unless you are moving or you absolutely have to.

There is a reason why someone has to replace ball joints at 15,000 miles and other people go 80,000 miles..
