Need Gearing & Heads help
Two Questions
1. What is the STOCK Rear-End gear in a 99-04 (2001 in particular) Mustang GT? I thought I hear 2.73.
2. Is it possible to "port" the stock heads? what else is involved in a "porting your heads" job?

RE: Need Gearing & Heads help
1. 3.27, I believe the v6's have the 2.73, I would have to ask my little brother he is a mechanic and has a v6, but yours is a 3.27 for sure.
2. Porting and polishing (P&P) oyur heads involves sending them out to someone who knows wtf they are doing. They will mill and polish the heads until they are smooth as butter. Allows more airflow in and out of the combustions chamber. I would go with a reputable sompany for this. You are almost better off buying one of the head kits they have which has the P&P heads, better springs, better retainers, etc. The following are some companies I would go with:
1. VT Engines
2. Fox Lake Racing
3. Livernois Motorsports
All of these companies are well versed in the 2V heads. They have good prices, but just to let you know you are looking at over 1K to get this done PROPERLY. (I do not have the links for the above three companies becasue I am not at home right now. I am pretty sure they are the following:
1. www.vtengines.com
2. www.foxlakeracing.com
3. www.livernoismotorsports.com
Just try using yahoo or something to search, you will find them easily.
