yup i agree... just put a cone K&N filter on the end of the stock tube, remove the slicencer and you will have about the same thing as a CAI or RAI.. /end thread!

I have done and had 1. the MAC CAI and it is crap. I had the cone and took out the slicencer and that was the same as the MAC. I now have the JLT and love it. for 175 it is the best kit out there in my opinyon. and yes when stoped you can feel the change in idle between it worm or cold but only at idle.

I would bet with all my intake and exhaust mods that the stock airbox with a K&N drop in would not be as good. Just IMO. But when you get a bigger TB, Intake plenum, LT headers, o/r pipe, and flows there is way more potential for air to flow out than push in with a stock airbox. I could tell a difference in the amount of air coming in. Take the next sentence with a grain of salt, but on the JLT website they show the dyno on a GT with the RAI installed and (forget about the HP gains) they showed the A/F ration dropping from like 13.x down to 12.5. I think that shows that a lot more air is coming in. Now, it may be true that you get more air with a K&N drop in but I don't think it is as much. But, it depends on whether you want to spend an extra $140 to get a little more air than the $40 K&N filter. Do what you all want with your intake, but I like the JLT.

you are are correct, like i said.. if you have a stock GT there wont be much difference between the stock air tube with a K&N or JTL intake.
Now if you have a TB and plenum, LT's and exhaust you will need to upgrade from the stock setup to the JTL or whatever floats your boat! End of story.

oh and the A/F mixture.. if you go from 13.xx to 12.5, that means you are running a little bit more lean, which in turn will lessen the life of the motor.. lean=dry.. dry=blow up!
