Default Longtubes or shorty headers with x-pipe?

I won't lie, I know squat about engine work. I got WAY too excited just swapping my throttle body and catback on my own. Just wondering about the longtube headers. I currently have a Bassani x-pipe with cats and a Borla catback system. Should I go with the Ford racing shorty headers or get some long tubes and a short x or h-pipe? Are the longtubes' horsepower gains against it's weight even a factor?

I wouldn't bother messing around with shorty headers. Either one will be a pain to install. Shorties may get you a couple horse, but Long Tubes will really give you the gains. IMO, I would never get shorty headers. I think you can install the shorties without dropping the k member and supporting the engine, but LT's you have to dop k member to get them in, which invloves removing all front suspension, supporting motor and taking off k member. It is an easy but frustatingand long job to do. Very LONG. BUt if I were you I would get the LT's.

You do NOT have to drop the k member to get LTs in. All I did was unbolt the engine from the motor mounts and jack it up a little. It was a massive pain in the *** to get them in, but it was well worth it in the end.

I agree that shorties are just not worth it. LTs or nothing

i have to differ. maybe not shorties but midlengths save the pain of installing the LT's with good gains

heres proof

True midlengths will do the trick, (and keep you emmissions legal if you need to worry about that), but I believe the only midlengths you can get are JBA, and they are like $700. BBK or MAC LT's are like $350-$500, depending on what you want. I would suggest BBK ceramic coated LT's, but if you have the money go with the JBA midlengths.

Very true, but then again even bassani you are going to pay out the ******* for less gains than LT's which in most brands you will end up paying less for.

Anything other than LT's don't make sense, especially on 2V cars.
