Brake Piston

RE: Brake Piston
yes you must twist the piston before compressing, I think clock wise or even king kong wont get it to release! The shelton manual calls for a key that fits it, but you can just use a big pair of needle nose.

RE: Brake Piston
twist the piston and then use the c-clamp and you will want to bash yourself for not figuring it out yourself. Make shure you turn that piston a few times, turn it util it stops as I remember, then compress it and start crying because it was so easy! LOL I know I did when this happend to me! LOL

RE: Brake Piston
Okay, a week later and finally some closure!
I ended up returning the original brake piston tool I bought from Advance Auto since it didn't fit. I tried a different auto shop (locally owned/operated) to see if I could get some help there. They gave me the same tool, but different brand. I explained my situation and they told me I could return the piece if it didn't work.
Somehow, someway, it fit! I'm not sure if it was simply the way the original piece was manufactured that caused it not to fit, but the new one did no problem. We first tried spinning the piston clockwise, but again it didn't seem like it was doing much. So, we spun it counter-clockwise and backed it out a little bit - then tried spinning it clockwise again. After a few revolutions it went in with no problems and we finished the job.
I have rear brakes again!
