swirl questions..
hey guys i have an important question about swirls...to remove them do i need a buffer? now i know with the buffer there is an attachment u can get that is like more abrasive or something...if i bought some swirl remover will that actually remove the swirl or would it just be a quick fix type of thing where it will look good for a while then wear off and the swirls will come back...right now the supplies i have are a claybar, paint cleaner, showcar glaze, and wax, is there anything else i need or what?

RE: swirl questions..
You need a buffer. Something like a 2000-4000rpm adjustable buffer will be great for a noobie. Buy some 3m scratch remover/compound and have at it.
Always keep the buffer moving, use in figure 8's just so you never hold it in one place. The paint will look horrid after you wipe the compound off, don't worry - this is normal. Use a glaze/polish and enjoy having much less or no swirl marks.

RE: swirl questions..
I would never touch a car with compound or scratch remover. Especially with a dark color. Unless it was just painted and has dirt in the paint. Therefore you dont have a choice. Its way too abrasive. Meguiars makes a swirl remover. Use it with a foam polishing pad with a buffer. Then give the car a good hand wax. It will look good for a while but you may see some swirls again after all of the wax wears away. Check out www.levineautoparts.com They have a great selection on detailing products.
