bbk progressive / specific rate springs

I was thinking of getting bbk lowering springs. They advertise a 1.5" drop. Does anybody know the difference between progressive rate and specific rate springs? which is better? do any of you guys have bbk springs? thanks!!

I've got the specific rates on my car. 1.5" drop for $170 shipped from JEGS. The ride is great. I recommend them to everyone!
