Default Cobra brakes on a 2001GT

this has probably already been asked before but does anyone know,
Im gettting new rotors, and brakepads for my 2001 GT and want to upgrade to the Ford Racing Cobra calipers and Powerslot Hi performance rotors. but im reading in my catalog below its and it looks like there is a braket kit for 94-04 GTs. so i need this and if so should i go with the calipers listed with the bracket kit or will the Cobra replacement caliper set fit fine? money is an issue and the Cobra replacements are cheaper. the other cali[pers are described as the same calipers used on the 2001 bullit and will fit it along with cobras and GTs.

Many people have done this modification..

Cobra-style calipers (made by PBR) are a DIRECT replacement for your stock calipers... You'll need Cobra sized (13in) rotors to make it all work...

Move up in the world.. You'll be happy you did..

Alright, here... I ordered my kit from stangsuspension.com, They sell the front and rear upgrade as one kit, it totals $400 for the front, $400 for the rear. Add $25 per rotor for slotted and drilled rotors, really hard to beat. When I bought mine they sold the kits separate and I bought slotted and drilled rotors for $75 a piece separate and now have an extra set of stock cobra rotors sitting around [:@]... Also with your new rotors, GET THEM ZINC COATED, else they will end up like this attached picture...

Now for the details, for the front brakes, you need nothing but the Cobra caliper and a new rotor, the swap is very simple. For the rear, you will need a new caliper mounting bracket from a Cobra. The rear caliper for the cobra and GT are identical, the mounting bracket is different (1/2 inch offset) to move the rotor out to be able to fit the slightly larger rotor under the caliper. Needless to say, the swap looks beautiful.

The pictures I took that day can be found in full size here: http://s50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/ShadowDrake05/

Edit: And I did a full how-to on the swap in the how-to's section of the 4.6 forum
