Default TRANNY ISSUES HELP!!!!!

I gots a 1998 GT and it has 60K on it I bought it when it had 50K and I replaced that Cheap plastic intake manifold, but that has been the only problem till recently. I was driving out of my neighborhood today and it just fell into second with no resistance and revved up. It wouldnt go into gear. The ford delership has it now and told me that I could have broken a Frok shaft I think and he said this is a very common problem in mustangs I was just wondering if any of you knew anything about these problems. This is my first stang and I love the car so much I would probally cry if I had to sell it. Also let me know if there is anything else I should worry about with this year. I just really dont want to get rid of it. It is so perfect to me.

if it "fell" into gear it's probably the fork.

tell me this... is it stuck in 1st gear? like when you let out the clutch, does it want to move as if you are in 1st?

honestly you can get a cheap low milage trans and a swap will only be around 250-400 bucks... no big deal, you can even do it yourself

I pulled mine out, put in a clutch, redid the flywheel, rebuilt the trans 90% on my own, and put it all back in.

All is hunky dory except 3rd gear is still a crap shoot... but no more grinding.... 3rd gear shat is just a t45 problem

and yeah looking at the shift forks they are very cheap and not strong at all

i was super pissed when my car was grinding 2nd and 3rd bad. Then I realized all cars break... they are DESIGNED TO BREAK

a trans seems like a big deal but in reality is not... especially with a manual trans

I had the same problem the first part of may. Broke the 3-4 shift fork at the track powershifting. Me and my dad pulled it apart and replaced the forks, and a bearing and put it back together.
