i was going 65 in a 25, which is 40 over, and i just got a 225 dollar ticket, got to make payments, but eventually lost my license for a month, had to get a sr22 to get my license back, but this is missouri, they have strict rules
I am a police officer in Texas so I dont know how similiar our laws are but I can try to help. Can you tell me what kind of ticket you got exactly i.e. speeding, reckless driving, or what the ticket actually says on it?
Sorry dude, 40 or more over the speed limit is a class A misdemeanor and is punishable with up to a year in jail and $2500 dollar fine. Its not a ticket. You should have went to jail, but if you didnt the cop was probably nice and let you drive your baby home. YOU NEED A LAWYER in the worst way to be with you in court so they dont make an example of you. I have first hand experience with your situation.
This is from the cook county traffic court website, and it goes for the whole state of IL.
"Misdemeanors
Class A -
jail up to 364 days or fine of $1 to $2,500 or both
examples: driving under the influence, driving on a suspended or revoked license or speeding 40 or more miles over the speed limit."

In New Jersey, there is this thing called the Unsafe Driving Act. You can only use it twice in your lifetime. You can use it in court without a lawyer and plead guilty, of course, and all you do is pay the fines, no points, no insurance b/s, and no state surcharges. I think it may be an act everywhere, look into it because i'm about to use my first one for 62 in a 45, not as bad as you guys but i just got my license in march, cops in my town just put miles all on the car, thats it. They would not hesitate to shoot you and send 5-6 patrol cars if you stole fritos from a seven eleven.
