I will PM you a lawyers number that I have. It will cost you $125 for him to appear with you at court if you plead guilty or not to ensure you dont get taken advantage of and screamed at in court. Plus the people with lawyers get to talk to the judge before all the other offenders in the court room if you are pleading guilty. You will be out of there in minutes. If you decide to plead not guilty, the save all the trials until after all the guiltys are heard. That usually takes all damn day. Trust me, get a lawyer. You wont regret it, and you will never go to court without one ever again. The one I am going to PM you usually does cook county court apearences, but call him anyways to see if he can recomend you one in your area.

In New Jersey, there is this thing called the Unsafe Driving Act. You can only use it twice in your lifetime. You can use it in court without a lawyer and plead guilty, of course, and all you do is pay the fines, no points, no insurance b/s, and no state surcharges. I think it may be an act everywhere, look into it because i'm about to use my first one for 62 in a 45, not as bad as you guys but i just got my license in march, cops in my town just put miles all on the car, thats it. They would not hesitate to shoot you and send 5-6 patrol cars if you stole fritos from a seven eleven.
lol what down is this? im in burlington

In CA, more specifically Los Angeles, if you are under 18 you automatically lose your license. Anything over 100 can be considered Reckless Driving (Misd). Penalties may include imprisonment, a hefty fine, a 6 month suspended/ revoked license. If, at the time, you were found to be racing- you can lose your car as well. Generally, if you've been to traffic school within the last 2 years, the court looks at it as "You should have known better." On the upside- no one got hurt.

This is from the cook county traffic court website, and it goes for the whole state of IL.

"Misdemeanors

Class A -
jail up to 364 days or fine of $1 to $2,500 or both
examples: driving under the influence, driving on a suspended or revoked license or speeding 40 or more miles over the speed limit."

http://www.cookcountycourt.org/traff...ml#misdemeanor

I don't think that that's automatic though, most speeding this that are high are up to the cop's disgression, ie I could have had a reckless charge for my 53 in a 25, but it was just given to me as speeding.

i agree with getting a lawyer. i got a ticket for 63in a 40 and reckless driving/drag racing. took a lawyer and it got wiped clean from my record with just a defensive driving class. that was also in OK. another piece of advise, dont speed in OK or TX the cops will pull you over for anything.

Man, this is gonna depend A LOT on your judge and/or Prosecutor (Or District Attorney, same thing). Different states, counties, and cities will have different ways of doing things, as do different prosecutors and judges. If you don't get a lawyer, when you go to court talk to the Prosecuting Attorney if you get a chance. Let him know that you desperately would like to get it dropped a bit...most prosecuters will- just to rush it through the system and get to the next in line. OTOH, some judges are sticklers for major speeding offenses and won't budge an inch from stiff punishments.

good luck man, it's way beyond a slap on the wrist. I had to b.s. speeding tickets in my 94 explorer, and they were less than 20 mph over, and I dunno how my truck could even do that...

but they were $75 and $95... but the $95 one applied to like 21mph over and less or something, so you are lookin at something more hefty. Bring the lawyer, be honest, plea guilty and try to get out of there with a fine.

BTW is this your first time being pulled over for this? and also... like I've seen stated before... TAKE IT TO THE TRACK

sometimes here the cops dont even bother if your going over a certain speed...because if your going over 120...the chances are you prolly wont stop...so they see it as if they chase after you, they will cause u to be more of reckless driver...
