RE: How many miles can you get out of a 4.6 ?
I just rolled over to 120K on my 96GT. I am the original owner and have always run relativey hard. I Keep oil changed at every 4-4.5K miles and not much else in the way of maintenance. I blew up the intake manifold (plastic) around 50K, have had to replace altimeter, both distributors, and spark plug wires. Other than that nothing really bad has happened. The only modification I have is an K&N intake performance kit.

RE: How many miles can you get out of a 4.6 ?
Well, I took my car to get it checked out, and it turns out that I needed to have my transmission fluid changed, it was very, very dirty. My exhaust was messed up cause my X-pipe was loose, and I had it clampped. Now the car runs like it did when I got it, and its barking like it used to...now the only thing I need is some new pipes, any suggestions ?

Hey guys, i have a 96 GT and ive had to replace the intake manifold and plugs, thats about it, it has 82000 miles on it, engine runs a little hard because thats the one i use to race, but the 98 GT i have has 48000 and is the one i baby, both run extremely well and i have never had a problem with either, except a spare key stopped working for it, they are both completely stock, o the trani was rebuilt on the 96 gt because the synchros were messed up from the owner before me who drove it like a sports car

It looks like that "silent" recall for the plastic intake manifold on the '96 GT was a reasonably big problem as I have seen three postings concerning blowing it up. The good news is if you took it to a Ford dealer they replaced it for free. I know there is someone on this forum that works for a Ford dealer...any input as to how big that problem was?

your right russ ford is replacing yhe plastic intakes that are cracking on the engines. If i would of known that along time ago i would of had it replaced by ford. i also hear that there are so many cracked intakes that they are replcing them with alumium intakes..thats what i heard...later guys...
