Default Pinging Problem

When I am driving my car and when it is shut off, i occasionaly hear "ting" just once every now and again. What is this caused by? I asked this question about a week ago and you guys suggested higher octane, I am now running 93 in my car and I am still hearing the "ting".

hope this doesnt seem like a sa answer, but who cares if it is after your car stops running? i have heard similar pinging out of older cars from the exhaust under the car.

I was just trying to help the people who could help me by giving you a better description. I am not sure if this problem is called pinging or not, thats why I included that tidbit of information.

I got to give my 2 cents here. Who ever told you to use higher octane gas to get rid of a ping sound after you shut off the car has no clue. If the pinging would be when you floor your car then of course it would make sense. But how can different gas affect your car when it's shut off? Anyhow don't waste your money on 93. The ping comes from your exhaust or headers and it is caused by retracting of the metal when it cools down. This is aboslutely normal and do not worry about it.
