Thanks for all the good advise everyone. Once I get the old one out and see what all is damaged, I will figure out which one to buy. I dropped the front exhaust out and took most of the mounting bolts out. I had to soak the driveshaft bolts for I coundnt get them to budge. Whats up with the top starter bolt!!!!! What is the secret to getting that bad boy out....I think I will look at some shifters while I am here. A nice short throw would be nice. If it wasnt for the top starter bolt and driveshaft bolts, I could have it out already. In the morning I get on it again.

Whats up with the top starter bolt!!!!!
LOL! You missed the thread earlier where we got to that problem, but I'll explain it again. I've taken my tranny out twice, and to get that top bolt out, what I did is used just the right length and combination of extensions so my ratchet handle would just barely clear the back of the starter, and you can only rotate the bolt about an eighth of a turn at a time. It's easier, at least for me, to attach the socket to the end of the extensions and put it on the bolt head, then attach the ratchet to the extension last. That bolt is a real bitch to locate with the ratchet... It's slow, but it's the only way I know to get it out. I guess if you had an air ratchet...

Find the thread in this section titled "OMG" and look at the picture of Monty's starter which he removed rather forcefully...needless to say he's adding a new starter to his budget.

King Cobra clutches are good for up to 600 HP at high RPM launches also. They are cheaper and a little more reliable than the centerforce in my opinion. Look into them.

Got it out and here are the pics. Burnt up for sure. Not sure if the flywheel can be turned seeing how it is blued in a number of places. Most of the damage apears to be material that is imposed on to the flywheel.
As I look at and price some clutches I am leaning toward a Spec stage 2 assembly for about $300.00 shipped. My 99GT is just short of 400rwhp and 400rwq machine as it sits and I will be putting in 3:73 next month. I hammer it all the time.

Picked up the flywheel, good to go.
On the clutch, I bought a McLeod clutch package. A friend of mine is going to pick it up for me at Delk Performance in Nashville Tn. They are a awesome Mustang orient speed shop for those in TN with a Mustang Dyno to boot.

Got everything put back in and took it out for a spin. All went well. I was suprised the instruction said not to apply full power to the clutch for 450-500 miles to allow it to break in. Learn something new everyday.
