Default drag radials

im goign to be buying some 17x10.5 deep dish and i was thinking of buying some bfgoodrich drag radials, i saw them on a stang and they looked really good and they could be a big plus @ the track, so what do you guys think buy some drag radials or can you name some other high performance tire that will give me good drag racing cabability as well as daily driver wear? thanx

If you drive your stang daily and put a decent amount of mileage on it, the bfg drag radials are not for you. They get about 6000 miles of tread life and they're horrible in the rain. If your looking for a decent drag radial that you can drive around on all day, get nitto 555r's. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I have put abou 10k on them and they're still holding up strong. And they only cost me around 350 for the pair.

I'm pretty sure everyone SEVERELY exaggerates teh average life of DR's........

if you treat the tires nice, and don't beat the **** out of them like street radials, then you can get plenty of life out of them...

I have MT ET Street Radials, and i'm over 6,000 miles now, and I still have plenty of tread left in the grooves..sure, i don't expect to get 25,000 out of them, but 10-11 shouldnt be a problem for me at all (but i will prob. change them out before that)

BFG's should last even longer than that, and if you treat Nittos right, they'd be even longer...
EDIT:,,,,,, they do scare me in the rain though... [X(]

How are you getting 6K+ out of MT/ETs? I know the BFGs for sure arn't supposed to last much more than 6K, and I heard the most agressive MT drag radial they had was only supposed to last like 2500 miles??

I know my nittos are worn out badly at about 8-10K, but I do beat on them pretty hard. Its hard not to spin when wot in 1st always results in tire smoke

EDIT: the softest Mickey T. is the ET Streets...i have MT ET Street Radials,, but are still softer than BFG, and nittos are a rock compared to these.....

this is how...in regards to the highlighted area...

ive done about 8 runs at the track, with a little smoke before each run
only left tread on a public road 1 time
peeled out less than a dozen times on dry pavement...

basicaly, i have been babying the holy **** out of these tires from the day i got them

im not sure of the exact mileage,,, ( i wish i would have written it down for stuff like this )...but i konw i put more than 3K on them last year, and I am at 3100 miles this year since removing the car from storage..

the downside to being so freaking nice to the tires is the fun factor......its not there...as soon as i get out of my school payment falling behind, im buying some CHEAP *** 245/45/17's for the whole way around so i can go out, roast them, squeal them, do what the hell ever to them and not cringe about treadwear and cost
