Default Valve covers- chrome or GT blue

I haven't posted anything for awhile regarding my build. So I'll bring everybody up to date. I'm building a tribute car for an LAPD officer that was killed in the line of duty. We processed together, trained together, and went through part of the academy together.

The car is at the body shop right now so I'm focusing on the engine dress up. The car (98 vert GT) and engine compartment is red. It has a cobra R front end with an 03/04 heat extractor hood. The engine is an 03/04 cobra motor with a chrome 2.2L KB. I'm looking at either the chrome valve covers being sold by Blue Oval( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT )or the "GT Blue" Valve cover as seen in the ford racing catalog (below). I was going to do a poll but if anybody has any other suggestions I wanted to keep it open.

Chrome is overdone. The blue would not only look better but would be very unique

I would do them red, to match the engine bay, I think to much chrome on the engine looks alittle ugly. Sounds like a nice car though, Good Luck

Nice project.. for a very good reason.. I would go with blue but considering the engine bay is red?? I would then have to say chrome?

Blue would look alright if there is the same blue on other parts of the engine or better yet,the outside of the car.Even colors that don't look good together can be made to work if they are done tastefully so blue and red would be easy.Maybe a thin blue stripe (thin blue line if you will),would bring the engine compartment and outside of the car together. How about painting the running Mustang on the hood liner blue? An"In Memoriam of Officer __________" in blue under the window in the style of military fighter planes would look nice also.
The main thing is not to overpower any part of the car with too much extra color. If you find your eyes being drawn to the graphics you have too much,IMHO.My way of doing extra color is to just draw the eyes toward something that might get overlooked otherwise. The main thing is not to over do your color scheme, less is definately more.
Keep us posted on your progress and show some pictures as it comes along.

Below is a badge I'm using on the back of the car possibly where the FORD emblem used to be. There's also going to be a couple of small plaques under the hood as well. I totally agree with your thoughts on the color scheme, that's why I'm not doing any flames or anything too outrageous to the body. With that in mind, I also debated keeping the stock valve covers and having the plaques under the hood chromed so that they would stand out more. I do appreciate everyones input.
