yeah I'm thinking about finding a good long block. I want something that won't cost me an arm and a leg, but can take boost to make me around 450 rwhp and still be reliable... that's why it can't be stock

ORIGINAL: monkeydude3

I live in Downers Grove, IL
go with www.vtengines or www.modularperformance.com both are in Mich so they aren't too far so you could save alot on shipping. With these rising fuel costs some companies are charging @ $500 to ship a longblock.
And those are 2 of the best modular engine builders around. They also both have P&P'd heads and cams etc to choose from.

George,

It may be a better idea to get a short block, vs. a long block for a couple reasons...

A) You can re-use all of your desired accessories. Sure you don't have to worry about that w/ a long block, but it saves money anyway..

B) You can choose which intake/injector combo you want. This is WAY easier than taking parts off, and putting new ones on. Saves you time..

C) You can really tweak your heads to the way you want. Why pay someone loads of extra money for something you could do in your driveway?? I mean, putting heads on is easy, compared to reassembling the valve train...

D) You'll have that more "fulfilled," sensation when you know you built it yourself...

I think a short block is a much better idea, but if you can find a good long block for cheap, move on it..
