Default RE: brake whine

Glad I could help. My buddy's mustang also had the same problem, under light braking and brake quiet fixed it as well. I think that should do the trick.

ORIGINAL: sandcracker21

^^i will definatly try this later today or tomorow

that is wuts weird tho.....the sound only happens under light braking....

under heavier breaking its not there.....

and the sound only happens some of the time, somedays more than others
Chances are your rotors are not hard enough to handle the semi-metallic pads. I thought our brakes were semi to start with but if the composition is different from OEM you may need to look at different rotors or try my solution below. What happens is that you are getting a glaze on your pads. The glazing happens with you ride the brakes/light braking. I bet if you take the pads off they are pretty shiney on the contact surface to the rotor.

Try taking some 100 grit sand paper and sand them width wise. Get a grinder crosshatch your rotor surface or get your rotors rough cut. The sanding and rough cut/hatching keep the metallic dust from building up and causing the glaze that causes the squeal.
