Default One question, One problem

First off I have a question to anyone who owns an Optima yellow top battery. I purchased one today since mine wad dieing and was wondering how you got the battery to lock-in to the compartment. The optima is skinnier then a stock battery so the clamp doesn't secure it. It's still fairly snug in there but not as tight as it should be.

Next I have a problem. On my way home tonight my car died in the middle of the road. I was cruising along and all of a sudden the power went out. It's not a problem with the new battery (headlights, power locks, starter, all still work). What could be wrong. Does it seem like the alternator?

no like I said, the battery works fine. if the battery was dead the headlights wouldn't work.

just got my car towed to the shop. I'll let you guys know what the problem was. I'm almost positive it was the alternator. Would my new battery have anything to do with causing the alternator to go bad, or is it just a coincedence that it went bad the day I put in the new battery.

The same exact thing happened to me when I bought the Optima. It crapped the alternator out on me that afternoon. Everything worked fine up until the battery was installed and from then on I had problems with power. Once I replaced the alternator everything worked fine.

thats weird. Is the optima somehow too powerful for the stock alternator or does that make no sense at all.
