Default Realistic top speed with 4.30 with 4R70W?

i know the calculators say 140 mph at 5800 in 4th with 4.3's in 4R70W but does anyone have experience in reality with what the top speed works out too? and with 4.10's

The calculators are correct... what's the 4th gear ratio for the 4R70W?

i'm assuming mine is 2.84 but i could be wrong...the 4R70W has either 2.40 or 2.84....? with one i would be 147 mph and the other 153 mph

it was mostly just out of curiousity...i'm definitely going with 4.3's cus 3.3k rpm for 80 mph with 4.56's is just not something i'm intrested in

I've gfot 4.10's and that works out to 26.5mph/1000rpm's so if I had the power in 4th gear(OD) I could hit 150MPH at 5650rpm's. I've been to 136 and that was enough in a '93 Talon. With the 4.10's I finish the 1/4 mile right when it shifts into OD! Makes the 4.10's seem perfect for 1/4 mile and also street driving as I can cruise at 75mph at 2850rpm's which isn't bad.

i was talking about in a mustang, and yes they are different, talon would have a different ratio in transmission

Jeremy I know you were referring to the Mustangs and I believe I answered it accuratly 4.10's or 4.30's would both be good choices for 1/4 mile racing and still have enough gear in OD to hit 150 if the motor made enough power. My addition of what I did in the Talon was to say I wasn't going to prove the Mustang could do 150 as I had had enough of high speed with that 136 in the talon.
Mark
PS: I would discourage anyone from attempting to check their top speed on the street. Do the math and know the potential but don't risk yourself or others to find out!
PS2: The talon AWD's have 3.54's for their differential gears and in 5th they are at 85% of those 3.54's. That yields an even 3.00 for their final in OD. With a redline over 9000rpm's top speed was not an issue with those cars. Top speed requires power.
You will have an ideal gear for 1/4 mile times and still be able to go faster than most anybody else if you are willing top push it that far, most aren't!

150 mph is attainable with stock 3.27 gears in stock trim(with governor removed) with 4.30's power is not the limiting factor, RPM's are

Jeremy we are into opinions and it would take an actual physical test or a guy with a lot more physics knowledge that I know! LOL
With 3.27's once it got into OD my car would do 33mph per each 1000rpm so 150mph would be reached at 4545rpm's if the motor had the power to push it that high in what amounts to a 2.29:1 gear ratio.
My 4.10 equipped car does 26.5mph per 1000 rpm's and at 75mph it is turning 2850rpm's so 150 would require 5700rpm's, well within the motor's capabilities as weak as it is. Yours with 4.30's would do 25.25mph for each 1000rpm's so 150 would require 5940rpm's, again quite attainable.
I still think your 4.30's will be a perfect gear with the automatic and it's OD reduction factor. 1/4 mile will be right around maxing out 3rd gear as I do and if you want to push it you will hit a speed that I would not want to do unless in a controlled environment, a condition of my age and morals!
The stack gearing mighjt get the car to 150mph but it would require at least a 5 mile stretch of road. Ever tried to accellerate in OD? It is a very slow process, almost nil for changing speeds with the throttle not kicking it down to 3rd gear.
Like 2000Gt4.6 said several posts back "why are you worying about it"?
Again I believe the 4.3's are going to be the nuts for your car. The best accelleration that you can practically get, for cruising speeds being a factor, and also get you down the 1/4 mile track as quick as your power will get ya'.
I got the www.rpmoutlet.com tuner and gearset combo with bearings for the insane price of $449. amazing, best deal for the money. Cost me $200. for the install, $30. for shims and about $20. for the MOBIL 1 gear oil and posi additive. I had a choice of 3.73's or 4.10's or I would have probably went for 4.30's if offered as they seem to be the perfect gear for what I want to do but 4.10's are nearly the same.
What are you looking for from a gearset? Mark
