I have a slight problem, when i put my five speed into first and am basically idling when i punch it, there is a loud knocking noise. i checked my trans mounts and one had a bolt cracked off and the rubber seemed alittle worn, so i threw in a bolt of my own and tightened it down, and that made no difference, any ideas?

1st gear is going out... you wont have a tranny for much longer. Need to get it rebuilt or get a newer upgraded one. It does it in that gear only?

ya, jus in first, and its not all the time, jus most of the time

well I had a friends Camero do the same thing, but in third, and he drives it still. Just no third gear. LOL.. He runs it at the track with a 75 wet shot without 3rd and still ran a 13.40... LOL. Thats bad ***. Those LS1 are fast as $^%$ !

But if it is your 1st gear going bad you wont be able to drive it like he does because 1st is the take off gear and to many launches in second will burn out the clutch. ALSO, go under the car and mess with the drive shaft. Buddy of mine sitting here has a stang and the U joint closest to the tranny was busted a little and he said that was causing a popping noise from his.

damn those camaros

but i checked the u joints and they seemed to be ok, it kind of sounds like a mount or somthing, also in the hanes manual it said something about suspension?
