RE: Optima Batteries
If your going to use the battery for starting your car than do the red top. If you plan on putting a heavy duty stereo system and plan on playing the music with the car off than do the yellow top. I can tell you from experience that the yellow tops don't last much ,ore than 2 years. Look into odyssy batteries too.

The red top is an automotive type battery. It's designed to maintain a voltage while it's charged/discharged at a high amperage therefore never becoming fully discharged. It is not designed to be discharged and recharged completely repeditively.
The yellow top is a deep-cycle type battery. It's designed to maintain a voltage while it is being discharged at a high amperage. It is designed to be discharged and charged completely repeatedly. However, this type of battery is designed to be recharged with low amperage.

Yellow top all the way baby!!! I can run my 1500 watt stereo all day long on mine and at the end of the day the yellow top just starts right up. Like the other dude said though you need to trickle charge it if it gets drained.
