how much power can a 01 cobra block handle
whats the max hp you can put on an 01 cobra block i know the gt's about 400whp the most you wanna go, what about the 01 cobras i know theyre not forged but are they any stronger????

Not much stronger, the crankshaft is forged, but the rods are powdered metal, just like the GT's, and the pistons are the same as in the GT's as well. You may be able to squeeze a little more out but the weakest link of the stock 4.6 are the rods, followed very closely by the pistons.

if you are talking about the entire shortblock assembly about 450 WHP on any stock 4.6L block (not counting the 03/04 cobra) is all you want to risk.
440 or so is a safer number realistically. The 4v cars will make a little more safely on the stock block, but only because it takes less boost to run the same numbers (due to the superiour flow of the top end).
I have acutally seen/heard about a few 2v cars with stock shortblocks making around 500 to the tire safely, at least for a while, but this was with a fully built top end. It seems that if you can get the top end to flow well enough you can push the HP number a bit because it takes about the same amount of stress on the engine to get there (instead of wasting the hp thru loss it goes into the drivetrain)
