V6 to V8 swap status report
Overall, I am very happy with the swap, and how she is running. Here are some of the issues two weeks out from the swap that I need to fix, or adjust.
First, and foremost, the synchros are jacked up. That's the biggest issue. Im working out an arrangement with the guy who sold it (the tranny) to me to have him pay for repairs, as opposed to me shipping it back, and waiting for him to ship me a new one. This is my daily driver, and waiting 2 weeks is not an option.
Other minor things inlude a groaning hydroboost , throttle body tends to stick, leaking valve cover gasket, inacurate gauges (speedo, odometer, turn signals), I need a switch for my AC.
Aside from the tranny, nothing too major. In retrospect, I am kind of un decided as to whether it was worth it, because I still have some PITA issues, but, I will always have the experience. Definately wasnt as clear cut, and easy as I thought it would have been, an I can say that I will never do it again on a daily driver. The motor is REALY strong, with only 9,300 mile on it when I got it (my v6 had 121,00), so that is a good thing. Anywhays, Thats the status 2 weeks out. Ill keep you guys updated.
About the "human element" I wish I read other peoples post who did the same thing before I did the swap. Other peoples experience are always the best teachers.
Also, I found out really fast just how little I knew, and I became a PITA to my friends, especially when it came to the electrical/wiring stuff.
Yes I know "You should have just bought a GT moron!" LOL. :-0

RE: V6 to V8 swap status report
only thing stupid about all that was doing it to a daily driver. my car took me almost 6 weeks to get running smoothly when i did my supercharger, granted i only worked on it a little at a time and had lots of issues (kit was incomplete and for different year [&:] was sent the wrong fuel pump, fuel line broke, tensioner broke, tune sucked). doing big projects never seem to go perfect, but i feel a hell of a lot better knowing i did everything myself. good job on your swap.
