What's the difference between the stock engine and a 351?

351 is the same (except for deck heigth) as a 5.0/ 302. you need a 94-95 gt wiring harness and a 93-95 lighting computer i believe

Almost anything for a 302 will boltup to a 351W, except intakes. That means all your head options for the 302 (with all the aftermarket rockers/springs/whatnot) and camshafts will work. The aftermarket for the 302 is simply amazing, thus so is the aftermarket for the 351W

ive alway wondered about this as well but ive heard that it is a lot of work/$ to get a fuel injection setup for a 351. maybe this is just older models, if its out of a 96 then im guessing its already fuel injected. ive also heard the optimum set up is a clevor, i think windsor block has better oiling/cooling passages, and the clevland has the better heads (bigger valves).

i know a guy with a fully built maverick with a 351 windsor. i was talking to him and he said back in the day the 351 cleveland was the god of engines, but now you have aftermarket parts and the windsor is cheaper. better off with the windor. and if i were you id go
carbeurated with the 351, just my .02 cents

It isn't an easy swap. You have major wiring changes. If you live in an emissions area you have to do major mods to the wiring harness. Otherwise you have to swap to 94-95 Mustang GT wiring. You also have to swap the dash wiring if you do the 94-95 swap. You have to swap the k-members. You can use a V6 k-member also. The radiator will also have to be changed. It is no easy task. I have done a few.
