Well...here's something to think about

If you get an '05 it's probably going to be under warranty...in which case it wouldn't be a "wise" decision to mod as it will void the factory warranty.

IMO I think the new stangs are garbage...But then again I was never diggin' the 60's stangs.

+1 for the Cobra. I got a GT because I wanted an auto trans to drive in heavy traffic every day. Also, I test drove an '05 before I picked up my car, and can honestly say I prefer the looks and interior of the new edge models better.

Dude... if your choices are an 04 Cobra/05GT/04GT, DEFINATELY get the Cobra. First of all, its faster than all of them stock, and you said you might not have money to mod ANY of them once you make your choice. And, like someone said, a simple pulley swap and a tune will get you great numbers. Not to mention, even if you wanted to afford a GT with turbos, your gonna be spending way more than you would think. To really benefit, your going to have to forge out your motor on the GTs- the Cobras stock engine comes forged, and flows much better thanks to the 4 valves. The possibilities with the Cobra are pretty much what you want them to be.
