you have to have more valve reliefs... hence 4 v .... 2v only have valve reliefes on one side of piston... 4v pistons have like a bowtie shaped valve relief.. most short blocks you buy have valve reliefs for 4 valve motors.. that was how mine came and i have 2 valve heads... for what it's worth...o and yes that is why they call them modmotors... most parts are interchangable...
i'm slightly confused by your post...
stock pistons and most aftermarket pistons don't have valve reliefs unless you ask for them. They aren't even needed if the cams are degreed properly.
