Vortech Supercharger
I have made up my mind to install a Vortech SC in my stang. A nearby pro shop asked for $7,500.00. Don't you think it is a little much? Anyway I am going with my own ford mechanic for much less $$$$$. Does anyone know if an experienced mechanic will have much diffuculty in the installation process of this Vortech. Also, will I see a difference in performance and does anyone know if this new addition will harm the engine / clutch etc.
Thank you
Thank you

RE: Vortech Supercharger
I havent installed a vortech before, but its the non-intercooled/aftercooled version it shouldnt take long at all... tap the oil pan and run a hose that doesnt take long.... everything is is pretty mcuh just mount it up you dont really even have to run much tubing. To answer your question... its a lot.

7500 is extremely high.
The kit should run no more than 4000 bucks complete, with tune. I was quoted 600 for the install from MPH.
Anyone with even a fairly limited mechanical ablity should be able to install one if you take your time and follow the instructions. Its not as easy as a CAI install or anything, but if you can pull the tank to replace the pump, and follow instructions you should be able to do it yourself (or with your friend).
Anything over about 800 for the install is rape IMO. Anyone that has done it before should be able to get it all done in about 8 hours. A shop shouldn't be charging more than about 60 bucks an hour labor (thats pretty steep anyway)
You will eventualy need a new clutch with your increased power level, but your engine will be fine so long as you get a good tune etc etc.
+1 on the underdrives, they will have to go. you can't run both the blower and the underdrive pulleys.

absolutly postivily no chance you will find any turbo kit that is anywhere near complete for 3500 bucks (on a 4.6L GT anyway)
