Default BEST KEPT SECRET MOD/BANG FOR BUCK

The STEEDA TIMING ADJUSTER has to be the best kept secret mod for the 4.6 and certainly the best bang for the buck. It sells for $140. With this device we are made capable of changing the base timimng which changes the timing across the RPM range, not just at WOT. At the time I bought my timing adjuster I had a Predator tuner with the standard canned tune. I increased the timing the full 10% allowed in the 2 rpm ranges offered, 2-4k rpm's and 4-8k rpm's. Then I bought the adjuster and UDP's since it made sense for me to do them together since I was planning the UDP's anyways so I bought the UDP's from Brenspeed and Brent said that the biggest thing he does on his custom tunes(all of his are custom tunes as he gets his tuners blank and sets them to your specific mods and 3 different octane levels) is ad timing. He said that at 4000 rpm's the stock tune calls for 10*, the same as the base idle and this is at WOT. Brent sets his 93 tunes at 23*. At 5000 rpm's the stock system calls for 16*, Brent sets his at 24*. So he told me to set the timing adjuster at 6 or 8* over stock and on top of the Predator canned tune. I went with 6* and had no knock at all. Since I neeed a tuner for other things except timing I then sold the Predator and bought a SCT from Brent and got the 3 custom tunes. He told me not to expect too much because of all the extra timing I was already running but he got my shift points optimized and firmed the auto's shifting as did the Predator. Then of course he added a LOT more timing after asking me to stop using the timing adjuster. If you have not changed gears and especially have a 5-speed and don't need firmer shifts and cannot aford a tuner for $379. then give the timing adjuster a try. You can add 8* safely with 93 octane and ad 10HP in the process. That claim is more than the CAI's and TB/plenums and maybe the exhaust. It took me at least 2 months until I had read about this device. Easy to install by yourself and simply takes loosening 3 allen head blots to change the timing! Mark

I think my S/C was worth every penny, it was the only mod that made MORE power than advertised, hell it was the only mod that made atleast the "claimed" power gains.

can't go wrong with F/I....

but the tuner sounds like a good idea. ive got a buddy that just got an 04 and ill mention this to him. he already has a CAI and exhaust

Ditto. I have a JLT RAI and Steeda UDP's for sale for anyone who wants to see if they get their claimed HP gains.
