Default Question Installing JLT RAI

Okay, I've got a question for you guys who have installed a JLT RAI, or maybe even some other RAIs. When you take the MAF off the old intake, you're then supposed to attatch a MAF adapter. Well, in the picture they have it mounted flush and tight, but I have a rubber seal on my MAF that prevents me from tightening it down like in the picture (instructions from AmericanMuscle). Should I just tighten it down onto that seal or should it be removed? Thanks in advance.

Nobody? I need to go ahead and start putting this all together. It's easy to take back apart and it wont make a huge difference either way, just thought maybe someone would have a definitive answer.

HMM, I didnt have a seal or gasket when I took the stock pipe off and the kit didnt come with either also. When I bolted mine up there was a small gap between the MAF and adaptor but not enough to do anything ( I hope ). Ive had it on there for about 3K miles now and no problems. So, you could try cutting the seal down, or maybe get some loctite and put it in between and seal and the adaptor. I really dont see how the seal could keep you from tightening it down though, I would say trim half the seal and go with that.

Yeah, I'm pretty dumb actually. Thanks for no one catching it and pointing it out haha. That was part of the screen that on the step before it said to remove [:@]. Ahh well, got it all bolted up and installed now.

If you talking about the rubber seal around the screen, the screen comes out. Take it about and it mounts flush with the machined aluminum piece provided. Mine didn't seal perfectly due to the original plastic piece being warped a little so I fabricated a gasket out of gasket material to insure proper seal. Good luck.
